High machinability and hot plastic deformability
Although it is the standard alloy for stamping it also presents excellent machinability for chip removal. The low lead content, lower
thant 2.2%, means that it can be used for contact with drinking water. It is included in the 4MS “Positive List” and can be used for
up to 10% of the surface of the domestic supply of water for human consumption.
Standard alloy with high machinability for chip removal
Alloy specifically created for round section bars, it is recommended for turning parts and has excellent workability performance for
chip removal. Optimization of the chemical composition guarantees reduced chip size and optimal mechanical characteristics. Find
application in taps, accessories, clamps and components in general.
Standard antidezincification alloy for the USA market
Standard dezincification resistant alloy which thanks to its reduced lead content has applications in the United States market. The
modest lead release makes it suitable for use in contact with drinking water; in fact it is among the 4MS approved alloys and is
included in the “Positive List”.
Alloy with low lead content and optimised machinability
Its lead content below 0.2% allows the use in the USA market for which it is NSF372 certified. Its good machinability for chip
removal makes LFB the standard alloy among low lead content materials. It is included in the 4MS “Positive list” it is used for parts
that come in contact with drinking water.
Leaded Muntz Metal for mechanical machining
Named “Leaded Muntz Metal” it presents fair tool machinability and good hot formability. Thanks to its excellent mechanical
characteristics and its copper content it is used for the production of parts used in heat exchangers.
Standard anti dezincification alloy
Optimised for mechanical machining for chip removal it has low lead transfer values. It therefore has applications in taps and
components in contact with water for human consumption as a substitute for the alloy CW602N. It is approved by 4MS and is
included in the “Positive List” of metallic materials that can be used in contact with drinking water.
Wieland recognised the potential of environmentally friendly, lead free machining brass at a very early date, and adopted the
pioneering role in Europe by developing ECOBRASS. This proved to be a farsighted course into the future. Today, ECOBRASS is
marketed worldwide over a cooperation network and available, even in smaller quantities, from trade partners. We also market
this material under the name “CUPHIN” for sanitary products
This alloy mainly composed of copper (Cu), is enriched with tin (Sn) up to 8-9%, giving rise to alloys with goodmechanical characteristics and great resistance to corrosion.
